The NBA playoffs are far from being over; however, Tuesday’s draft lottery will give basketball bettors and fans an idea of how the Draft would shape up. The lottery, which is used to determine which teams get the first three picks in the annual draft, gives the greatest chance to the worst team (based on their regular season record) and the thinner chance to the best team participating in the lottery.
Once the top three selections are determined, the remaining teams qualified for the lottery are placed in the draft from worst to best. Of the 30 teams in the NBA a total of 16 franchises made it to the post season while another 14 teams were entered in a Pre Draft lottery.
Based on the regular season stats, the Orlando Magic own 25% chances of locking the first pick (20-62 regular season mark). But that doesn’t mean they have secured the first pick in this year’s draft. Against what many bettors may think, since the NBA introduced the Modern Lottery system in 1990, the team with the best odds of winning that first pick has been the least favorite team to get it. Only four teams with the worst record the past season have won the first pick in the last 28 years: The Nets in 1990 (the Nets took Derrick Coleman), the Cavs in 2003 (LeBron James) and Orlando in 2004 (Dwight Howard).
The Charlotte Bobcats and Cleveland Cavaliers also have the chance to get the first pick. With 19.9% and 15.6% odds, respectively, the two teams have the chance to jump the Magic in draft positioning and bring some new blood for next season. The 2013 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 27th. Prospects at this year’s draft include NCAA stars Nerlens Noel (Kentucky), Ben McLemore (Kansas), Otto Porter (Georgetown), Victor Oladipo (Indiana), Trey Burke (Michigan), Michael Carter-Williams (Syracuse), Anthony Bennett (UNLV) and Alex Len (Maryland).
2013 NBA Draft Lottery Odds:
1- Orlando Magic: 25%
2- Bobcats: 19.9%
3- Cleveland Cavaliers: 15.6%
4- Phoenix Suns: 11.9%
5- New Orleans Pelicans: 8.8%
6- Sacramento Kings: 6.3%
7- Detroit Pistons: 3.6%
8- Washington Wizards: 3.5%
9- Minnesota Timberwolves: 1.7%
10- Portland Trail Blazers: 1.0%
11- Philadelphia 76ers: 0.8%
12- Toronto Raptors: 0.7%
13- Dallas Mavericks: 0.6%
14- Utah Jazz: 0.5%

2013 NFL Draftees Begin Rookie Camps
After what many considered as an irregular Draft, NFL teams and draftees are getting ready to begin training for the coming football season, and with that thought in mind, a total of 23 teams will be conducting a special rookie mini-camp starting this weekend.
Teams will also take the chance to ink contracts with their newly signed rookies, and some teams are even taking advantage of their draft picks coming to town to hand them the standard four-year agreements before engaging in any pre-season practices.
The current NFL champ, the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears had already begun to secure their draft pick, but several other teams are expected to join them starting this weekend. The Bears reached deals with most of its draft picks by Thursday, reaching a four-year deal with second-round linebacker Jon Bostic and leaving first-round offensive lineman Kyle Long as their only unsigned draftee.
Other teams expected to get their picks under contract by next week are the Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers and the New Orleans Saints, who did not sign a 2012 draft pick until June 29th. The Saints reached agreement with four of their five picks in the 2013 draft, including safety Kenny Vaccaro, New Orleans’s first-round selection and first player to reach agreement on a contract. Other players inking their contracts include third-rounder Terron Armstead , fifth-rounder Kenny Stills and sixth-rounder Rufus Johnson.
Five draft picks of the Philadelphia Eagles officially entered the NFL this week, the highest being second-round tight end Zach Ertz. Also in are fifth-round safety Earl Wolff as well as three seventh-round picks Joe Kruger, Jordan Poyer and David King. Meanwhile, first-round offensive tackle Lane Johnson and third-round defensive tackle Bennie Logan and fourth-round quarterback Matt Barkley are left to sign.
The San Diego Chargers also finalized some rookie contracts, signing second-round linebacker Manti Te'o, third-round wide receiver Keenan Allen, sixth-round linebacker Tourek Williams and seventh-round quarterback Brad Sorensen. That leaves first-round offensive tackle D.J. Fluker and fifth-round cornerback Steve Williams as the only unsigned draftees.
The Detroit Lions agreed to terms with their four late-round picks, reaching four-year deals with second-round safety Darius Slay and third-round guard Larry Warford. Some sports media sites also reported that Detroit signed fourth-round defensive lineman Devin Taylor and fifth-round punter Sam Martin, leaving first-round defensive end Ziggy Ansah as the only member of their nine-player draft class that hasn’t signed a contract.

Nets and Bulls Clash in Game 7 in Brooklyn
Sat, May 4 / 12:00:00 PM ET, Barclays Center, New Jersey
Before the start of Game 6, the expectations on the Brooklyn Nets were thin. Chicago held a 3-2 advantage in the first round series and they were playing at the United Center. But against the general consensus, the Nets put together a surprising team effort, tying the series 3-3 and forcing a seventh and definitive game at Barclays Center.
With Thursday's 95-92 victory over the Chicago Bulls, the Nets scored their second straight win and avoid elimination in the 2013 NBA postseason. The final and decisive match will be held this Saturday, May 4th at the Barclays Center.
Game 6 was truly decisive for the Nets. The team knew they had to dominate and limit the Bulls’ offense if they wanted to continue alive in the series, and that’s exactly what they did when they stepped on the court. Brooklyn took an early advantage in the game thanks to the effective combination of Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson, who finished the game with 17 points. Deron Williams also contributed to his team victory with 17 points and 11 assists. But probably the most valuable player for Brooklyn during Game 6 was Andray Blatche. He wasn’t a driving force, but was able to lock Brooklyn’s victory in the last minutes of the game. Blatche, who ended the night with 10 points and seven rebounds, netted the last 5 points for Brooklyn. A two-point shot with 1:15 left put the Nets up 92-88, and then he made 1-of-2 free throws with 32 seconds left, putting the score 93-90. His two free throws with 19.2 seconds left put Brooklyn up 95-92.
The Bulls had a last chance to tie the score and get closer to their rival, but the chance vanished when Marco Belinelli missed a three-pointer with 7.9 seconds left in the game. Joakim Noah was able to grab the rebound but lost the ball when he stepped out of bounds.
The Nets will try to do the impossible this Saturday evening when they return home for Game 7, although, they have a tough challenge ahead. Only eight teams overcame a 3-1 deficit to win a playoff series, four of them after 1995. The Houston Rockets beat the Phoenix Suns in the 1995 Western Conference semifinals. The Heat did the same against the New York Knicks in the 1997 Eastern Conference semifinals. The Detroit Pistons also defeated the Orlando Magic in seven games during the 2003 Eastern Conference 1st round. The last team that achieved this accolade was the Phoenix Suns, who defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2006 playoffs.
Game Odds:
Chicago Bulls: +7-110
Brooklyn Nets: -7-110
Game Total: 182.5, o/u-110
